The Heggs House of HorroR

Biography

The Name Is Heggs – Luther Heggs!

The Man Behind the Curtain – The Creator of the Heggs House of Horror - Or as known at Halloween – The Master of Scare-A-Monies!

So, who is this guy?

For the most part, he’s a seemingly normal guy who just loves Halloween and putting on a great show every October 30th & 31st.  It’s all thanks to a childhood spent in the Rock and Roll Capital of Cleveland in the 60’s & 70’s, glued to his radio and late night TV watching “The King – Ghoulardi!” The seeds were planted and the dream began to work in the world of entertainment…

From Rock and Roll roadie and lighting director for the Louise Mandrell show in the 80’s to broadcast engineer, Luther’s technical skills opened doors from Nashville to Las Vegas as he installed and wired recording studios, TV stations and radio broadcast facilities across the country. This would lead to his favorite line of work as an on-air personality/talk show host on Cleveland radio’s WWWE / WTAM and Oldies station – WMJI 105.7 in the 90’s.

All of these work experiences come into play in the creation of the Heggs House of Horror. Most everything seen in the display is fabricated from scratch by Heggs. Jack of all trades - master of none - whether it’s mechanical or electrical, he’ll get the job done as a good roadie should. Lighting, sound, special effects and most of the voices emanating from those who inhabit the display are all thanks to Luther. It’s a labor of love for all those who attend each year.

The Master of Scare-A-Monies would like to give special thanks to every child, young and old that attend the festivities every year; for it is they who inspire him to continue the yearly tradition in Old Brooklyn!

And let us not forget Luther’s other sources of inspiration: Ernie Anderson, the Munsters, The Addams Family, ELVIRA, and last but certainly not least- The Legendary Don Knotts in the classic, “ Ghost and Mr. Chicken!”
